If you've ever wanted to see my (GLORIOUS!) artistic rendition of Lugnut tapdancing in the middle of a cherry blossom grove, head over here. :D

I really, really wanna app Optimus Primal to damned. And I really, really know what I want him to look like, except something about it keeps rubbing me in a "you should feel wrong about this" way, but not in any way I can rationalize.

You see, I want to make his human form really, really dark-skinned. I'm drawing him from S1, after all, and he has an organic primate form there, and it's really, really dark-skinned. Because it's a gorilla.

"Ugh, that doesn't ring quite PC, Alana," the back of my brain warns, "just 'cause he spends 59%* of his time as a dark-skinned African primate and the Axalon crashed in Africa, doesn't mean he should look like he's some flavor of POC."

But then I go, "But wouldn't it be worse if I took this guy who spends all his time as an African primate in Africa and whitewashed him just because I'm a pasty white girl?"

And the back of my brain goes "YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG" and neeners at me while I flounder and try to tell it that I'm just designing around what he looks like, why SHOULDN'T he be a big guy with a tubby middle and geek glasses to make him look science (can't you just see Optimus with a novel in one hand, pushing up blue-rimmed reading glasses with his other hand?) who happens to have dark skin?

Arrgh. I can't figure out why it feels wrong, because it felt so right when I first designed it. D:

... I liked it. Including the bit near the end which made me (and Alexis) cry.

Also, PRIME IS BADASS. He tore off Megatron's horns and used them as swords, omg.

Also, Unicron is evil, because he kept on having tentacles writhing around and binding down and creeping up the bodies of Transformers... guh. o//////o Damn you, Japan.

Also: I didn't hate the kids. Alexis was my favorite, Rad coming up second, and I actually thought Fred was kinda adorable, in a Chouji-minus-the-badass sort of way (even with some of the loltastic animation). Billy and Carlos were mostly just kinda there, but I didn't mind them.

Highwire High Wire was probably my favorite character overall, but that's because he was concentrated adorable snuggleableness; most of the cast was pretty winful. I loled when Rad called Hot Shot smart, though-- he obviously hadn't been watching the same anime as I had been.

Sideswipe was adorable. I would read fic with him. I would especially read OT3 with him, BRO <3, and COMMANDER BLURR SIR <3<3<3<3. And Demolisher was a sweetheart, poor guy. He deserved better than Megatron gave him.

Starscream... oh Primus, Starscream. ;_; S-sorry, gimme a moment, I've just got something in my eye... *Sniffles*

I spent about 95% of the time Starscream was onscreen wanting to give him a hug. Or cookies. Or an Alexis. Or all three.

Thrust is the tastiest ham and cheese sandwich that the universe has ever known. *noms him and sighs happily* And Jetfire manages to seem like a kinky bastard (why, exactly, did you have handcuffs with you when you went off to Mars with Starscream?) and like pure awesome at the same time.

... Minicons are cute. I can now see why Insecticomics!Starscream collects them.

And... that was Armada. I liked it.

Actually... I think I loved it.

I also agree that Transformers needs a cartoon of some sort, and Animated has proven to fit the bill time and time again.

I disagree, Animated took the whole of G1 and filtered it into kiddie fail. The only truly unique thing about the show is transforming robots, it is virtually identical to 90% of the TV out there.

Would you care to expand on your viewpoint? Because, while I agree that TFA is a kiddie show, so is G1, and while TFA follows some tried-and-true formulas, so did G1, and TFA isn't at all just G1 rewritten anyway (homages are a bonus, not what the series is based on). And, really, there aren't many action/adventure cartoons, produced in the US, for the age group TFA is aimed at, so I'm at a loss as to how it's just like 90% of the shows out there.

Ben 10 90% of Nick shows, hell even Spongebob feels more dark. . The Batman even aimed at a similar demographic actually manages to sustain dread and a sense of danger.

... and a kid's cartoon about GIANT ALIEN ROBOTS that TURN INTO CARS needs to be dark to be good. And TFA isn't dark. No one's body has ever been violated and mutated and deformed, no one has ever been frozen into stasis and sent to be destroyed for parts and sold, no one has ever been wrongfully accused of treason and gone insane while imprisoned for a crime they didn't commit, no one has ever been created-- obviously intelligent and with their own personality-- only to be used without their knowledge in a suicide bombing, and no one ever has PTSD from being captured by an amoral bounty hunter, having parts of their body ripped off, then having to used the ripped-off body part to completely wipe the memory of the girl they were trying to save... Oh, wait.

Armada!Megatron is about as subtle as a missile to the face when he's manipulating minions. XD

That's it, guys. I'm spending too much time in fandom when my dreams start out being Jack O'Neil*Daniel Jackson, then Jack and Daniel turn into Optimus Prime and Wheeljack.

And, in both pairings, Jackimus Prime was the one trying to bring an extremely reluctant Danjack around.

On the upside, Wheeljack had the COOLEST transformation!

(I also saved the life of a mushroomman by patching up the hole in his middle with something my dream tried to tell me was non-sentient mushroom, but was obviously nori. Oh, and played my way through an exceedingly difficult dungeon in an RPG by abusing a 100% evasion trick and one of my characters' instant death attacks. GO ME. ... DREAM ME. <3 )

I considered narrating this, but... nah, I like it the way it is.
Pretend they're going out on a date or something. Maybe a party. The little silver things are candy-- metal encased concentrated energon, in fact. omnomnom. Also, reference to my last silent Cliffy*Mirage, Paper Flowers.
Also, there is gratuitous scenery porn and over-shooting of poses. I can't help it; I'm proud of Mirage's room, and he's too damn pretty on top of that.
